Associations, Federations and Special Interest Groups

Aware of the importance of international cooperation for the advancement of science, INSTICC works closely together with several other national and international associations and is proud to welcome them as partners in its activities or to arrange initiatives in cooperation with them.

While several forms of partnership are welcome, INSTICC places special value in "Technical Co-Sponsorships", by means of which both associations support each other from a scientific perspective for their mutual benefit. Additionally, in this case, members of partner organizations benefit from the same registration conditions as INSTICC members.

Workflow Management Coalition

Founded in 1993, the Workflow Management Coalition (WfMC) is a global organization of adopters, developers, consultants, analysts, as well as university and research groups engaged in workflow and BPM. The WfMC creates and contributes to process related standards, educates the market on related issues, and is the only standards organization that concentrates purely on process. The WfMC created Wf-XML and XPDL, the leading process definition language used today in over 80 known solutions to store and exchange process models. XPDL is a process design format for storing the visual diagram and all design time attributes.

Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence

APPIA (the Portuguese Association for Artificial Intelligence, www.appia.pt ) was founded in 1984, and is the portuguese arm of ECCAI. It has circa 200 members active in all areas of AI, in research, academia, and industry. In addition to other international events, every two years it organizes one of the oldest european AI conferences, "EPIA", the Portuguese AI Conference.

Associazione Italiana per l'Intelligenza Artificiale

The Italian Association for Artificial Intelligence (AI*IA - Associazione Italiana per l'Intelligenza Artificiale) is a non-profit scientific society founded in 1988 devoted to the promotion of Artificial Intelligence. The society aims to increase the public awareness of AI, encourage the teaching of it and promote research in the field.

European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology

EUSFLAT is a new non-profit European Society with the following aims:
- To promote and disseminate the methods, techniques and developments of Fuzzy Logic and technologies
- To encourage the scientific communication and collaboration among its members

International Fuzzy Systems Association

The International Fuzzy Systems Association (IFSA) is a worldwide organization dedicated to the support, development and promotion of the fundamental issues of fuzzy theory related to (a) sets, (b) logics, (c) relations, (d) natural languages, (e) concept formation, (f) linguistic modeling, (g) vagueness, (h) information granularity, etc. and their applications to (1) systems modeling, (2) system analysis, (3) diagnosis, (4) prediction and (5) control in decision support systems in management and administration of human organizations as well as electro-mechanical systems in manufacturing and process industries.

Asia Pacific Neural Network Society

Our predecessor, Asia Pacific Neural Network Assembly (APNNA) was founded in 1993, after IJCNN'93 Nagoya, under the leadership of Professor Shunichi Amari. The mission of APNNA is to promote active interactions between researchers, scientists, and industry professionals who are working in Neural Network and related fields in the Asia Pacific region. APNNA now has Governing Board Members in 13 countries/regions – Australia, China, Hong Kong, India, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, South Korea, Qatar, Taiwan, Thailand, and Turkey.

IFAC - International Federation of Automatic Control

The INTERNATIONAL FEDERATION OF AUTOMATIC CONTROL, founded in September 1957, is a multinational federation of National Member Organizations (NMOs), each one representing the engineering and scientific societies concerned with automatic control in its own country. The aims of the Federation are to promote the science and technology of control in the broadest sense in all systems, whether, for example, engineering, physical, biological, social or economic, in both theory and application. IFAC is also concerned with the impact of control technology on society.

International Neural Network Society

The International Neural Network Society (INNS) is the premiere organization for individuals interested in a theoretical and computational understanding of the brain and applying that knowledge to develop new and more effective forms of machine intelligence. It is accomplished through conferences, publications, and other activities that contribute to the professional needs of its members.

Asociación Española para la Inteligencia Artificial

The Spanish Association for Artificial Intelligence (AEPIA) was established in 1983 to encourage and promote the development of Artificial Intelligence in both the Spanish and the Latin American context. AEPIA is a non-profit organization formed by tenured and institutional partners. It is a member of ECCAI (European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence) , founding member of the Spanish Confederation of Scientific Unions (COSCE) and founding member of IBERAMIA ( Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence ). AEPIA biennially organizes CAEPIA, the international Conference of the Association, along with Technology Transfer Days in alternate years, and co-organizes IBERAMIA , the Ibero-American Conference on Artificial Intelligence in collaboration with other associations from different Latin American countries. AEPIA also sponsors the Spanish Conference on Informatics (CEDI) , since its first edition in 2005. In 2013, for the first time, AEPIA will organize EVIA, the Summer School in Artificial Intelligence. Among the purposes of AEPIA are the creation and coordination of working groups, the support of technology transfer, supporting institutions (Universities, R&D+i , enterprises , institutions, etc.) in order to facilitate innovation and application of the techniques and applications of artificial intelligence, to support and provide a discussion forum for researchers and students in their Artificial Intelligence related activities, from the aspects of scientific and technological research, development, application and teaching.
